Who's your favorite? Why? And what do you like about that character most? cherry

I'm not going to answer this, I'm only asking. xD

Or would Nina rather it was Supernatural?

Let's talk about this overrated show turned manga that features a gay protagonist and his harem that he disses for his best friend and enemy a teenaged protagonist who starts a war to make the world a better place for his little sister and acquires a geass and a pizza hut-loving squatter who does not seem to know that it is not good to use other people's …

So, type here whatever trivia you know, as much as possible, only one trivia per post. Let's make it more limiting. Wink

"Hermaphrodite" comes from the name of Hermes and Aphrodite's son, Hermaphroditus. Portmanteau name much?

For those who don't know the reference of Styx in our forum's name:

Styx is a river in Greek mythology. You could say the Sanzu River is its Japanese equivalent.
This river forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld, which is ruled by Hades.
The departed cross this river via a rowboat for a fee. The boatman is Charon.

Also, not related to Greek myth trivia, but hermaphrodite means an organism that has both sex organs.

Couldn't think of a good trivia, so I went with this. I don't know if this counts as trivia or whatever so I do apologize.

Nina, that is a trivia. More about our forum but still a trivia on Greek Mythology.
There are numerous versions of the Pandora story. Here are the some of the most common versions. (It's a trivia since most people just know her to have opened some box containing all the world's evils)
Prometheus showed humans fire (and even taught them all about it). The Gods got mad at him for this so he left...or was punished to have his liver eaten by some big eagle every day of his life while bound to a chain. Before this, he told his brother not to accept any gift from the Gods. The Gods created a "perfect" woman, the first woman on earth, and gave her a box which she was to never open and gave her to Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother. One day, she decided to open the box out of curiosity (the Gods, being total dicks, gave her a lot of this and gives her a box which she is not allowed to know the contents of) and released all the evils of the world. She quickly closes the box and leaves hope inside.

Version A: Hope, being hope, asks her to release him so that the world not be so bad
Version B: Hope is the worst evil in the box and it being sealed meant people would still be able to struggle through everything.
Version C: The last thing in the box was Anti-hope, Despair or Foreboding. Since it was not released, the people never lost hope nor would they be able to see the future and lose all their hope.

While on the topic of Pandora, she has a few similarities with the Jewish and Christian's Eve.
First off, they are the first woman. Second, they commit disobedience against a divine command. Third, a great calamity occurred/occurs to mankind because of them. And fourth, they are an attempt at explaining the origins of these calamities (suffering, evil, and all that) suffered by mankind.

This should be "Myth trivia" then. Oh well. I don't know if you wouldn't mind trivia on other mythologies though.

Athena was the daughter of Zeus and Metis. There was a prophecy saying that their offspring would be greater than Zeus himself. To prevent this, Zeus swallowed Metis so she wouldn't give birth. But it was already too late, for Metis was already pregnant. ...Metis gave birth to Athena inside Zeus and nurtured her there. Zeus then complained of headaches, and called Hephaestus to split his head open. He did so, and Athena came out from his forehead, already armed with weapons. These were from her mother.

This made me what. So much what.

Not just "offspring", "son". The prophecy was "son".
On a side note, only Greek Myths. If you want Norse, go make a new topic.

Hercules had four wives. The first one was Megara (yes, she is the one who appears in Disney's Hercules). They had children. One day, Hera made Hercules go mad and he ended up shooting his children with arrows. Megara, getting depressed with her sons dead, killed herself. His second wife was Omphale to whom he was delivered as a slave. His third wife was Deianeira. Then she got abducted by Nessus, a centaur, so Hercules killed him. Nessus gave Deianeira some of his blood, saying that if Hercules was ever to no longer love her, his blood would restore that love (but it was actually something terrible. It reacts to sunlight and causes whatever it is on to burn). One day, Deianeira heard rumors that Hercules (god they're names are long) was falling in love with another woman so she dipped a robe in the centaur's blood and had it sent to Hercules. Some of the blood spilled on the floor and when the sun reflected on it, it started to burn, so Deianeira had another person go after the robe to take it back but was too late. Hercules was already burning. So, after realizing what she had done, Deianeira committed suicide. His fourth and final wife was the goddess Hebe.
.....mfw I should have used Herakles.

Oh and Herakles had many affairs.
One of which happened during his twelve labors. As a reward to slaying the lion of cithaeron, Herakles was allowed to have sex with the kings daughters. All fifty of them...in one night. He agreed and got them all pregnant. Neutral
He also had three children with Echidna whom he had to stay with in order to get his horses back.
He also had male lovers. Wiki says Plutarch said they were uncountable. Check Wiki if you want to know about his children.

What about Roman myths then?
Why did I lol.

Aphrodite was born from Uranus' genitals that were cut off by Cronus. These were thrown into the sea, and the foams formed Aphrodite.

This isn't new info, but since you were talking about Herakles being a dick fag, this came into mind.

Roman is allowed so long as it connects with Greek myths. If not, make a new one.

More trivia about Athena:
Athena blinded a man named Tiresias for seeing her naked after bathing but pitied him (I think she knew it was an accident) so she gave him the gift to foresee the future.

Oh, and her symbol is an olive tree (peace) and an owl (wisdom). The olive tree thing comes from when she and Poseidon were "fighting" over who to be the ruling god of Athens. When Poseidon struck his trident on the ground, a saltwater spring and a horse emerged which symbolized victory on sea and land. When Athena did this with her pike, an olive tree emerged ,which at first was small but grew and bore olives and flowers. It was the symbol for peace. The Athenians preferred Athena gift therefore she became the ruling Goddess.

Whoops. Two trivias.
